So what would my perfect Christmas Day look like? Would it have mountains of presents under the tree? Would it involve eating the worlds biggest turkey? Maybe a lie-in?
No I don’t think it would be any of those things to be quite honest, you see I think my Christmases to date have been pretty damn near perfect.
With visiting family and friends and the going to the children’s christingle service on Christmas Eve. The excitement of our special bedtime story that we only ever read on this day each year ‘Santa is coming to Birmingham’. Although this year I may replace it with ‘Santa is coming to Dudley’. Leaving Santa some letters a mince pie or 2 some magic reindeer food for the reindeer and an extra special carrot for Rudolph.
The kids get into their pyjamas and into bed, and we sit with them until they fall asleep their heads full of excited dreams and visions of a man in red flying on his sleigh pulled by reindeer flying all around the world in one night.
Then me and Mr M&TTT settle down for an evening of tv before getting the magic ready for tiny 3!
This year is the 1st year we’ve had a dining table so we’ll set that up with surprises for the tiny 3’s breakfast. I’ll prepare the veg ready for christmas dinner so neither of us is stuck in the kitchen for too long on Christmas Day.
Christmas Day itself should be filled with noise – the wonderful noise that 3 very excited children make. Giggles, laughter and noisy toys!
It should start early around 6am with stockings being opened in mommy & daddies bed, then Christmas cuddles before running downstairs to see if Santa ate his mince pie. Then the tiny 3 should rush to see what if anything is under the tree, we’ll eat breakfast then open a few more presents before getting ready to Skype with family in spain!
We go to visit my grandparents and take them their presents and have a cup of tea or 2.
After an hour or 2 we’ll head home for Christmas dinner and eat it while watching the Queens speech. Then once dinner as gone down and the washing up has been done, we’ll open the under the tree presents.
This makes Christmas Day last, then once the children have played with their toys we’ll pop over the road to have tea with my parents and more presents and fun and chaos with the kids!
So I guess in conclusion my perfect Christmas would be family, presents, children and adults laughing alike and chaos lots and lots of fantastic chaos!
