Frankie and Benny’s at BHX

On Monday I was invited to Birmingham Airport to try out the Frankie and Benny’s landslide (before security) restaurant. I decided that it would be a nice start to the Easter Holidays, and that as Mr M&TTT it would make a nice family day out.

As we have family living in Benidorm we are quite seasoned flyers but have never had a sit down meal at an airport. This is mainly due to the fact I’ve always worried about the possibility of missing my flight or ordering my food and it not arriving in time for me to eat it before being call end to board – at least at Burger King you can take it with you.
Frankie and Benny’s Birmingham airport understand these worries and have come up with a few clever solutions to that problem.
1) They offer Takeaway
2) They don’t mind if you just want to sit and have a drink
3) Staff which know exactly how long any meal on the menu takes to prepare, so they can advise whether or not that item will be with you in time for you to enjoy it
4) A slightly different menu to the high street one, every item on the menu takes 10 minutes or less to prepare
5) A departures board which not only gives departures information but also tells you how long the wait currently is at the security gate.
You can also expect all your high street Frankie and Benny’s decor and also just as they do on the high street all children get a activity pack to keep them entertained either during the meal or on the flight. The activity pack contains a multi coloured pencil, colouring/activity book, jigsaw and game.
The food we ate was delicious, as a starter we ate Garlic bread. Then we got to choose a main meal each. I had New York chicken and chips, Mr M&TTT had crispy chicken fillet burger, JR had a children’s margarita pizza, and TP & LA both had tomato pasta. JR’s pizza was huge, I really didn’t expect him to even eat 1/2 of it but it must have been nice as he only left 2 slices. LA & TP didn’t even leave a mouthful between them, this never happens my boys are not good eaters so their meals must have been delicious. My New York chicken was so tender and juicy I couldn’t fault it and Mr M&TTT said his meal was gorgeous too.
For our desserts I had strawberry cheesecake, Mr M&TTT had waffle, the boys had strawberry ice cream and LA had a fruit salad. All these were also finished!
As an added bonus for the kids zoom the airport mascot and sketch the Frankie and Benny’s mascot came round to see them.

Zoom’s human guide told us that the sky side children’s activity area had changed to include more games for younger children and also that the activity sheet that all children were given had changed to include a map to direct you to the sky zone.
All in all we had a fantastic afternoon at the airport, and I would thoroughly recommend that if you like Frankie and Benny’s on the high street a visit to Frankie and Benny’s Birmingham airport before you fly is a must.
Disclosure: Our meal and transportation costs were covered by Birmingham Airport however all views are my own.
