In 2 weeks time my gorgeous boy who it feels like was only born 2 minutes ago starts in reception class at school. We are lucky enough that at his school we have the option for him to have a school lunch one day and packed lunch the next and as JR is a notoriously fussy eater I think this is the option we’ll use. Recently he stayed for a school lunch and really enjoyed it but also said some days he wants to take a Spider-Man lunch bag. His school is a healthy school and as such only allows certain types of food in his lunch bag and crisps have a strict fat, salt and sugar content. JR loves a bag of crisps with his sandwich at lunch time and I was struggling to find some suitable to his school’s requirements. Well I certainly think I’ve found them Walkers NEW Mighty Lights.
Here is why:
- 30% less fat
- No artificial colours or preservatives
- No MSG
- A source of fibre
- Suitable for vegetarians
- Made from real potatoes
Walkers Mighty Lights are available in 3 fantastic flavours Cheese and Onion, Lightly Salted, and Roast Chicken. JR loves the Cheese and Onion flavour after he’d finished his 1st packet he told me they were ‘My favorist crisps in the whole planet ever, I want another packet now mommy please!’
TP likes the Roast Chicken flavour but the thing which excites him most about these crisps is the fact that they are ridged, or in his words ‘I like the bumpy crisps mommy, they taste am am (TP’s way of saying yummy). I love the fact that as they are low in salt, fat and sugar I can give them to LA as well. As she’s almost 1 she is starting to enjoy taking the crisps from the packet herself and putting them either into her mouth or back into the packet.
Although she can’t talk yet I’m pretty sure from the fact that when I took her out of her cushi tushi seat there was not even a crumb left in her seat or on the floor. For baby led weaning that is very very unusual, its usually 20 mins to eat the meal or snack then 30 inutes to clean up after said meal or snack.
Me and Mr M&TTT are very conscientious parents when it comes to the health of our children and the food we give them, in fact in the past I have been called cruel because chocolate, crisps and biscuits are treats. As such we only allow the tiny 3 to have them rarely, and only 1 item per day so 1 chocolate treat, a couple of biscuits or 1 packet of crisps.
However we will quite happily allow the tiny 3, 1 packet of Walkers Mighty Lights and 1 more ‘treat’ per day.
Walkers Mighty Lights are available now from all good retailers and have a suggested retail selling price of £1.59 per 6 pack. However at the time of writing they are on offer in Asda for just £1. That is really good value for 6 packets of walkers crisps.
I received these crisps for the purposes of this review however as always on Me and the tiny 3 all thoughts, comments and opinions are honest and our own.
