Illuminasia

One of the things I was most excited about in my Blog on Mosi goodie bags was the family pass to Blackpool’s newest attraction Illuminasia. Having had a chance to speak to the Illuninasia representatives at blog on I knew it was something which I would love to go to take the kids to.
Illuminasia is an all round illuminations attraction, which is based at the world famous Winter Gardens, with an at the box office price of
£12.95 per Adult
£9.95 per Child or
£40 for a group of 4
It is one of the cheaper big attractions in Blackpool of course if you book online in advance you can get discounts on these prices.
Before you enter you are given a trail quiz card with a series of questions to answer in each of the areas, the tiny 3 thought that this was very exciting.
There was something about illuminasia that excited me, probably more than it should, there are very few barriers so you can get up close to the exhibits, and they also actively encourage you to take as many photos as you want to and they love it if you share them on there social media channels. All too often I go to attractions and exhibitions armed with my camera only to be greeted by ‘No Photography’ signs so this made a refreshing change.
The 1st area you enter is a representation of the Chinese Terracotta Army, handmade from silk and metal, you are then lead into the Jade Palace where you discover your Chinese zodiac sign and meet the emperor.

Each exhibit in illuminasia is handcrafted using traditional Chinese lantern making methods using silk and metal.
After the Chinese areas you enter little Blackpool, which to be honest was my least favourite area, as there was not as much to see and it didn’t feel as authentic as the other areas.

JR’s favourite area came next The Solar System with scale models of the planets.
Next is my favourite area Land of the Giants, there is so much to see in this area you can really see the skill that has gone into creating the structures, as there are tiny little things and absolutely huge things.

You then travel through the jaws of a shark (which terrified TP) into the deep blue sea, where you are surrounded by all kinds of sea creatures.

Finally you enter the wonders of the world area. Here you’ll find Tower Bridge, The leaning tower of Pisa, and the Statue of Liberty amongst others.

Roughly every 15 minutes in this area they switch the lights of and there’s a laser show staring a dancer called ‘The Globug’. As a nice touch at the end of the show a child gets chosen to turn the lights back on in true Blackpool illumination tradition.

This is also where you collect your free certificate if you complete the trail quiz on your way around the exhibition.
One thing I would say is it was quite difficult to get around with the pushchair as there were quite a few stairs to negotiate.
Disclosure I received a free family pass through the blog on blogging event, all thoughts are my own and I would happily pay to go again, as we all got so much enjoyment from it.
