Little Fun Fest Redhouse Farm 2014

So what did you do in the rain and mud this Sunday? I wonder did you have as much fun as we did?
Let me explain!
This Sunday very early (about 8am) we all piled into the car, which I’d very cleverly packed the night before, and headed off up the M6 to Dunham Massey. The kids were very excited as they knew we were going to Little Fun Fest at Redhouse Farm.
We were really lucky and only heard those dreaded words twice!

ARE WE NEARLY THERE YET?

Once we arrived and had a little help parking in the muddy field we checked out the days schedules for the big top and the fun barn.

Then we got ourselves a quick coffee before making our way to the big top.
JR & TP quickly spotted Derek (Alex Winters) walking towards the big top and we were able to spend 10 minutes chatting to him.
When then headed over to the big top to see Derek and Jem Frazer (The Mad Hatter) open Little Fun Fest 2014. Derek is a firm favourite with the kids, as is Jem usually although TP was a little Wary of the mad hatter.

After we’d watched Derek and The Mad Hatter the boys decided they wanted to make use of the fun fair, now usually with 3 kids a fun fair would be a big no-no especially as by me the travelling fairs can charge upwards of £2.50 per rider. However at Little Fun Fest the rides and attractions are all included in the price, so I happily said yes to every request of a ride, much to the shock of the children. Whilst the children were on the rides I met and chatted with the lovely Eliza from mommatwo , her hubby Alex and the equally lovely Katie from chaos and calm, who incidentally both have the cutest children ever!!

After many rides we all headed to the fun barn to see the Phil Fletcher puppet show, and while the family were happily settled in the barn I headed to the little girls room. During the show there was a power cut which I wasn’t around to witness but Mr M&TTT and the boys said the Starkidz party crew did an amazing job of entertaining the kids and getting them all singing.

Then it was time to listen to Cat Sandion from cbeebies read a story. It was not just any storytime though the kids were all encouraged to get up and participate in the story ‘Little porridge pot’. All the kids really enjoyed the story even if a few were confused by the concept of not sitting quietly.

JR and TP then decided that they would quite like to make use of the Redhouse Farm play area. The play area has a huge sandpit, climbing frames, play houses, coin operated diggers and coin operated tractors. JR and TP stayed mainly in the sandpit.

After some time playing in the sandpit we went to have some pirate fun with Alex winters, Mr Yipadee and Jake from Jake and the neverland pirates. This involved a lot of singing pirate songs and dancing with the kids.PicMonkey pirates Collage

After a lot of fun in the barn we made our way back across the field to the big top to watch Dr Ranj’s Travelling Surgery show. Again the kids and grown-up’s watching were encouraged to participate in the proceedings. The show involved several puppets visiting Dr Ranj’s surgery with different illnesses which the children needed to help diagnose and cure. The diagnosis involved a lot of shouting out what the children thought was wrong and the cure involved singing and dancing.PicMonkey dr ranj Collage

I didn’t manage to get many photo’s of Dr Ranj’s show as I was busy stopping a very excited TP trying to scale the security barrier to get on to the stage!

We were then lucky to be able to attend the official meet and greet with the stars of little fun fest. The kids were amazed that all the stars were coming around to talk to them and were interested in spending time with them, Dr Ranj even looked after the boys whilst me and Mr M&TTT sorted out the buggy and getting LA up the stairs.

After the meet and greet we all raced over to the big top to see the Mr Topper and Alex Winters Gunge Tank time, I would have loved to have been gunged and it is totally on my to do list, but Mr M&TTT reminded me that I hadn’t got a change of clothes and we had a long drive home, he also said that if I did get gunged there was no way he’d allow me into his car. So with this in mind when volunteers were asked for I resisted the urge to put up my hand but I definitely will next time.

The stage was set for Johnny the owner of Redhouse Farm to get gunged, Alex wanted it and so did Mr Topper, however things didn’t quite go to plan and Johnny burst his balloon first, this meant that the volunteer had to be gunged. This left Alex with a dilemma as the volunteer was a dad from his kid’s school, meaning he will see this person every day for the next 6 years or so! In the end after much deliberation over whether or not Johnny had cheated it was decided that there should be a double gunging.

The gunging was followed by the Song Time finale with everyone who had appeared at little fun fest on stage or dancing in the crowd with the kids. It made for a fantastic end to a fantastic day, a day which we can’t wait to repeat at the next little fun fest. There was so much more to do that we just simply didn’t get time to do, like the bouncing castle, climbing wall, inflatable slide, circus skills, under 4’s play area, go karts, pedal boats and chalk wall, and barrel train ride all included in the price. Also there was a wide range of food available to buy all at reasonable prices but the kids were just too excited to want to eat more than half a sandwich!

If this event sounds like it was fun (it really really was!) then follow Little fun fest on Twitter and Facebook for updates and details of the next event!

Disclosure: We were chosen to be little fun fest bloggers and received a family ticket f.o.c. however having paid to attend the 2 little fun fests last year I would have gladly paid to attend again this time. The Official meet and greet was by invite only.
