Little fun fest – York maze

Most of you already know I do love a bit of cbeebies, well be honest who doesn’t. Most of you know I love watching Alex Winters, he’s so lovely and when he’s in the cbeebies house you know that he’s as entertained by the links as the audience are. Well when I heard there was the chance to be in the vicinity of Alex, Mr Bloom and mister Maker, well how could I resist
Today me and the family travelled from Dudley in the West Midlands all the way to York Maze which unsurprisingly is in York. The journey itself wasn’t too bad other than having to endure 2.5 hours of ‘where are we going?’ Along side ‘mummy, daddy, are we there yet?’
When we found York maze quite quickly and easily and when the boys saw the giant little fun fest sign they were very excited
On arrival we were given a program of events, which we used to very carefully plan our day so we didn’t miss anything.
The 1st thing we did once we were inside little fun fest was head over to the big top to see Derek and Hagrid open the second day of little fun fest York Maze 2013.

Then the boys wanted to have a ride on the tractor, this was not just any tractor ride it was crowmania, you had to scare the crows away, with loud noise and water and we got wet, but it was heaps of fun and all the kids on board seemed to have a fantastic time even if the jokes were a tiny bit naff.
Then the boys and me went in the inflatable maze, which was basically a big inflatable with different sections and the kids just ran around from section to section.

Then Daddy took the boys on quad bikes and into the house of cornfusion which was basically a fun house (for the record I hate fun houses they scare the bejeebers out of me). Whilst daddy and the boys were having fun together me and LA found and chatted to the lovely Laura from tired mummy of two
We checked our program again and found that the things that were on at that time were on again later in the afternoon so we headed to the little fun fest fair where the kids went on every ride at least twice, before we made out way back to the big top to see the mister maker show the boys had so much fun singing and dancing with him and the use of the video screens on stage really added to the show.

After seeing Mr Maker the boys decided they wanted to go and see what was happening in the Harry potter area, here they planted beans and made magic wands before we settled down for our nice picnic dinner. After dinner we headed to the show barn where we saw the Phil fletcher puppet show which was very funny and had a few jokes that only the grown ups would understand.

After the puppet show,we stayed in the show barn to listen to a story being read by Alex having listened to him reading stories at little fun fest red house farm the boys were very excited to listen to him again. I don’t know what Alex is powered by but I for one would love a bit, his energy thought out the whole day was unwaining and story time was no different, when telling the story of aliens love underpants and again when taking the children on a bear hunt around the show barn, at this point I had a minor catastrophe I lost my phone, I looked all around the barn knowing I’d taken photos in there but couldn’t find it. Alex however did find it, for that I’m very grateful.

After being reunited with by phone and having a toilet break, we headed to a meet and greet with Alex, Mr Bloom and Mister Maker thank you Laura for inviting us the boys really enjoyed being in the company of the people they watch day in day out on the telly.

Then we headed back over to the big top to watch the dance off between Junior frood’s boys team and Mr Toppers girls team. JR was chosen to dance on stage as part of the boys team I was so proud of him.

Then came the best part of the day, where Alex got gunged, he was such a great sport as it had been planned without his knowledge.

At this point it was nearly 5pm and having 2 very tired boys and an early start for school Monday morning we decided to head off to the car and head off on our 150 mile journey home. We packed the car with 3 very tired but very excited children 2 of whom were asleep before we’d left the car park. If you ask me that means that had a very exciting, fun and happy day. We can’t wait for the next one.
If like me you love your children love cbeebies or generally you love a great day out I can’t recommend it enough, look out for one close to you soon. As a family we will definitely be at the next one, it can’t come soon enough.

* I brought my own tickets for this event, but we as a family had such a fantastic time I wanted to share it with everyone*
