My baby boy is growing up!

I don’t know when it happened, or how it happened but somehow my little baby boy is old enough to start nursery.
Today I took my little man to a stay and play day at the nursery he will attend in September, and will hopefully attend until he is 11 and goes to high school.
TP was very excited when he woke up this morning, in fact I think that he was excited last night as he couldn’t wait to go to bed so it would be morning time soon.

I think it helps that as JR has been attending our chosen education setting since early 2012 when TP was just 18 months old, so it is not a strange place for him.
This morning when we arrived at school to drop off JR, TP was very disappointed that he wasn’t going in to school with him, but would have to wait for 45 minutes.
When the time eventually came to go to the nursery unit TP was the 1st in the queue behind the teacher. I’m not sure if he was excited to play in the giant sandpit that JR has described constantly since it was installed in October, or if it was the prospect of being able to spend time with his brother at school.
When we arrived we were given a induction pack which told us what date he would start nursery and which group he would be in, and who his teacher will be. He really wanted to be a busy bee as that’s what JR was in nursery, instead he’s going to be a learning ladybird. It also described the uniform he is required to wear – Shirt, tie (elasticated) red v neck jumper with the school logo, grey trousers/shorts, grey socks and black shoes from September to April and then April to July he can wear a polo shirt with the school logo instead of a shirt and tie. I have already ordered his school bag, tie and jumpers and I can’t wait to see him in his full uniform September.
His first port of call was the giant sandpit, where he had to take off his shoes and socks before going in, he then tried out all four water activities both inside and out.
He then sat down to do some drawing, and colouring before trying to find some play dough, and then to do a painting.
He really didn’t need me there for the hour he was in there, and I was so proud of him.
He’s my sensitive one and I’ve been concerned that he wouldn’t want me to leave him in September, but today has really settled my nerves.
In fact he didn’t want to leave the nursery at the end of the session.
I really hope that this morning has been an insight into how he will be in September, and that the fact that JR will be in a different part of the building not the same classroom as him won’t have an adverse effect on how he settles. Although I’m sure that as he knows most of the teachers already and a couple of the children that will be starting reception he’ll be fine. (I hope, watch this space!)

*sorry about the lack of photos, we were told on arrival we were not to take any*
