Playground crazes!

Now I don’t know about other parents but since JR started school in September it has got me thinking about my time at school and wondering how different his experience will be to mine.
One of the things I’ve been thinking about was the different things I and thousands of other kids up and down the country would persuade my parents to buy, so that I could be like ‘the cool kids’ in the playground.
One of my first memories of these crazes were my Clarks Magic Steps shoes that came with a key brooch. These shoes had a little picture in the bottom – I still have no idea why, but I do know that I really really really wanted a pair. The thing is I wasn’t even a girly girl yet something about these shoes made me really want them. I can vividly remember thinking that it was brilliant that my shoes had a picture in the bottom of them, but know as an adult thinking back to them I do wonder what the point of the picture was afterall it was in the sole of my shoe, no one could see it.

In my 1st year at secondary school I can remember collecting Take That collector cards and taking them to school to swap with my friends I’d hate to think how much pocket money I wasted spent on those as i wasn’t even that big a fan I was just trying to fit in at school.

For the rest of my time in school me and my friends collected Merlin Premier League stickers I can still remember our group’s swapies rules, you see there was a group of 4 of us who were the only girls in school that collected the stickers and the boys were not interested in swapping with girls. So we made up our own rules, like 4 ‘normal’ stickers equalled 1 shiney unless you were swapping a 2 sticker complete team picture then that was equal to 1 shiney. Then there was our favourite rule of all ‘They are your stickers swap for whatever you want to’.

What are your playground craze memories why not have a look here to jog your memory
