It’s been a couple of years since we’ve been on a proper family holiday. This year we managed to have a couple of day trips but nothing overnight.
Next year we have a cottage farm holiday booked for February half term, but what about a summer holiday? Should we choose another U.K. break or a trip abroad?

Obviously a trip abroad seems like a very attractive idea, however I have many fond memories of  childhood family holidays right here in the UK. Our favourite destinations were Wales, Blackpool, Cornwall and Devon.I also remember that most years my grandparents would come with us, my fondest memory of this is how much I loved and still love being with my grandparents. Living in the centre of England meant the seaside was never too far away. We didn’t ever have to be at an airport at silly AM, or spend hours on end cramped in an aeroplane, and in all honesty I dont think that i missed out. Let’s be honest you may not be guaranteed the weather, but you are guaranteed a fantastic time, with not restrictions on how much your luggage can weight, so no limit on the amount of outfits you can take, which is always a bonus if you ask me, especially with 3 children who seemingly have the capability to get dirty in even the cleanest environment.

Personally i think that the U.K. has the most amazing scenery and beaches anywhere in the world. We have so many areas of historical importance and fun tourist attractions to visit too. I also remember that most years my grandparents would come with us, my fondest memory of this is how much I loved and still love being with my grandparents. I hope that sometime in the future we can take a multi-family, multi-generation with the tiny 3, my sister and her family and my parents. Something that would not be possible on a foreign holidays. I’m pretty sure that due to new school holiday fines along with the current financial climate next year most people will be going on UK holiday breaks and rediscovering the magic that our wonderful island holds.

Now we just have to decide where to go next summer!
