A wintery afternoon walk

Friday afternoon (7/2/14) saw a rare afternoon where it wasn’t raining after school, and it was actually quite sunny and not too windy. The tiny 3 seemed to have bundles of excess energy, and we had lots of left over bread so we thought it would be fun to take a walk around the local canals and maybe feed some ducks.
We decided to let LA toddle around and as it’s really close decided that we wouldn’t take the pushchair and would carry her if she needed it.

When we arrived canal side there were some really nice snowdrops growing in the undergrowth

The only wildfowl that we’re braving the winter were the Canadian geese and they were a lot of them

The tiny 3 were really excited to feed the geese even if I did feel a little nervous of how many of them there were

They really are beautiful and elegant birds as I think this close up shows

After finishing feeding the ducks we carried on having a nice wintery walk in a full circle to get back home. On the way LA discovered puddles and the joy which is puddle jumping.

On the walk the boys discovered a bit about our local history and had fun walking off in front of mommy with daddy.

I even managed to attempt a nice moon in the wintery sky and a helicopter photos

All in all we had a fantastic hour on our wintery afternoon walk before heading home to eat burgers home made by mr M&TTT.

  1. I am not a huge fan of Canada Geese in large numbers, they can be quite intimidating so well done to your two, hopefully they will find our geese and ducks fun to feed too, though I have to warn you their field is very muddy! Looking forward to seeing you later and thank you for joining me on Country Kids with your delightful family walk.

    • The Canadian geese really scare me especially when they hiss and stand upright flapping their wings. These seemed to know that it was just little kids who would mean them no harm and didn’t hiss, honk or flap luckily

  2. Geese are one bird I am rather scared of – not helped by a friend having some really vicious ones that from time to time I have to try and put away. Your 3 are much braver therefore than me!

    • They’re much braver than me too, I was terrified but I always try my hardest not to pass my fears on to the kids unless it’s for safety reasons

  3. I do love walking by the canal, so much to see but then I spent all my holidays as a child on a canal boat. Plus puddle jumping is the best, I love how snuggly and warm little ones look in their all in ones and well feeding ducks I don’t think that ever grows old does it. #countrykids

  4. Ash says – what a great walk you went on. I love walking by the water but Mum and Dad make me wear a lead when we go past ducks or swans or any other water bird. I don’t mean to scare them as I just want to play but Mum says it’s best. Looks like this was a walk that I would really enjoy #CountryKids
